The lachrymal glands produce three kinds of tears in the eyes. They are – Basal Tears, Reflex Tears and emotional tears.
Tears lubricate the eyeballs and eyelids and prevent drying up of mucous membranes. This keeps your eyes moist and also prevents dust and debris from entering your eyes. Tears contain a fluid called lysozyme that kills 90 – 95 % bacteria in 10 minutes only. All the toxins that gets built up in your body due to stress and tension gets flushed through tears. Emotional crying activates endocrine system that is responsible for endorphins and makes you feel good. It helps you to release negative feelings, stress and frustration. In life, we all go through the pain of losing our loved ones. If we cry at these moments, we let out all our grieves and this helps us to move on in life.
